Disappointment and Book Giveaway

This friday, we went to see the movie, "I am number four". If you didn't see it, you can skip the next 2 paragraphs. First of all, Henri is not suppose to die! Well, at least not until the end. Second, he's suppose to develop immunity to fire and be able to talk to animals. And lastly, there's suppose to be a giant fire. And terrorists? Really?
Other than that, I was really pleased with it. I wished the fight at the end would be more drawned out though. It took and hour and a half to build it up and the fight lasted only for 10 minutes. Oh, and number 6? Loved her. Her accent just added the perfect touch and her bike was amazing.

So there's this book giveaway and I want to enter. It's Supernaturally, the sequel to Paranormalcy. Here's the cover:

Thoughts on Terrorism, Love, and Books

Do you realize that the safest time from a terrorist attack is right after one? I mean, after 9/11, there wasn't another terrorist attack a day later. It makes sense that a terrorist wouldn't attack right after a major one. A terrorist's job is to create mass panic. That's the whole point. I mean, the word 'terror' is in the name for god's sake! Logically, a terrorist won't attack again. So for the time being, everyone in the New York tri-state area is relatively safe for the next few years. Or, you know, I'm totally wrong. But as much as I rant about this, I'll be freaking out when there's a bombing near where I live. Fear can twist any reason. Just wanted to put that out there.

I know this topic was kinda random but I had this idea for quite a while and realized I should write it on my blog. So for anyone who wants to fly (on a plane I mean), go ahead. The chances a terrorist will hijack your plane is minuscule. It's still there but nothing to freak out from. The chances of being hit by lightening is probably higher.

As you know, Valentine's Day was this week. Actually, I was kinda freaked out because I thought this guy was going to ask me out. It was after school and he called my name. Then he said never mind and his friends nudged him and laughed. Thank god he didn't. I'm not interested in dating. I've never had my heart broken and I'd like to keep it that way. Pretty naive, right? I want my little girl to ask me who my first love was and i want to point across the room say, "He's right there." Wow, i just realized how fairy tale that sounded. Guess I'm out of touch with reality. Anyways, you probably don't want to hear about a teenage girl's rambling.

So monday, my English teacher told us we were going to write a love poem in honors of Valentine's Day. Again, I freaked out. Then I realized it could be something like an "Ode to Chocolate". She also said it could be any type of love. Friendship love, family love, pet love, food love, and so on. Here it is:

It's actually a funny story
how I met my first love.
It started when I was a baby.
There were no fireworks or doves.

Just a few notes, a few bars
and I knew I was hooked.
My resolve broke like a jar
and my heart was booked.

The first form was a lullaby
set by my mother trying to sleep.
Each key set me closer to high
and they blended to make me go in deep

A little line full of strings
and it pulled my heart's
No amount of bling
could get me to dart.

A symphony of bliss,
like a wave of peace,
got me out of every single abyss
and my nightmares ceased.

Music can change a life
and I’ve yet to see one that has not.
More powerful than a knife
but it cannot be bought.

A song can alter the future
or at least that's what it seems.
There are a lot of trash, sure.
But the right lyrics and beat can make a great team

You can say I'm a dreamer
but aren't we all?
I'm a perseverer,
keep trying though I fall.

My first love inspires emotions
to which none the world has seen
It's an ethereal fascination
and I’d be lying if I said I wasn't keen

A little crude, I know. Not bad though, right? For those that don't get it, my first "love" was music. I was inspired by a song called, "Dear Hip Hop" by Magnetic North. You should totally check it out.

On with books, I've decided to make a limit. A couple months ago, I got a Barnes N' Noble membership card. I have regretted it ever since. Not that it didn't save me money. I probably saved somewhere around the 3 digits range. It's just that I've been buying books nonstop now. About two  month ago, somehwere around December, I stacked them all up. It was nearly as tall as me and I'm about 5'4. That's a bit scary, to be honest. The worst part is that I don't even like the books that I buy. I keep on buying them online since they have better prices there. The weird thing is that I haven't gone to the store once. As for my limit, it's 1 book a month now.
